NVIDIA announced on the 7th that it has become a technology founding partner of the Massachusetts General Hospital Clinical Data Science Center, aiming to use the latest artificial intelligence technology to improve the standards of detection, diagnosis, treatment and disease management, and to make medical services more progressive.
Recently, the largest in-house research program in the United States, and the Massachusetts General Hospital of the United States News and World Report "Best Hospitals" list, the Massachusetts General Hospital Clinical Data Science Center was established in Boston. It will use a large number of phenotypic, genetic and imaging data in the hospital to train deep neural networks. There are over 10 billion medical images in the database of the hospital.
The center will deploy the NVIDIA DGX-1 server designed for artificial intelligence applications, as well as deep learning algorithms developed by NVIDIA engineers and Massachusetts General Hospital data scientists to handle this vast amount of data.
NVIDIA co-founder and CEO Mr. Huang Renxun said: “Deep learning brings revolutionary changes to many areas of the scientific community. Physicians can use artificial intelligence to compare the symptoms, test results, and medical history of patients with other patients' data. The Massachusetts General Hospital Clinical Data Science Center initially focused on "radiation medicine" and "pathology", two areas with rich images and data, and later expanded to include genetics and electronic medical records.
Dr. Keith J. Dreyer, deputy director of the Department of Radiology at Massachusetts General Hospital and associate professor of radiology at Harvard Medical School and executive director of the center, said: "Now we are able to expand the field of radiology beyond the extent of providing human interpretation of the picture. With the help of precision medical services, we have entered the era of quantitative biometrics with radiation. The algorithms developed from a large number of patient diagnostic data will further strengthen our interpretation. Without the processing power of GPU, it is impossible to achieve at this point."
