Mexican meat exports to Russia grow rapidly

The Mexico Reform News reported on February 8th that, according to the Mexican Ministry of Agriculture, Mexican beef and horse meat were exported to Russia in 2011, which rose from 3.848 billion U.S. dollars in the opening of the Russian market in 2010 to 28.54 billion U.S. dollars, leaving Russia behind the United States. Become the second largest market for Mexican beef exports. It is estimated that Mexico’s exports to Russia will maintain a growth trend in 2012, reaching 35,000 tons.

A related person from the Mexican Ministry of Agriculture stated that the opening of the Russian market was due to the strong promotion of the Mexican federal government on the one hand, and on the other hand to the approval of processing companies that had obtained inspection licenses. Mexico currently has 17 departments that are approved by Russia's relevant quarantine and inspection authorities and that can export beef to Russia for quarantine inspection and export. Among them, 11 are beef production enterprises, 4 are horse meat enterprises, and 2 are feed production enterprises.

According to the Mexican Ministry of Agriculture, Mexico's meat exports prove that the international inspection and quarantine authorities recognize the Mexican inspection and quarantine system.
