The nutritional needs of the sheep

1. Maintenance Needs Maintenance needs are the total amount of nutrition a sheep needs to maintain its normal life activities in a casual state. Only after meeting maintenance needs can the rest be used to breed and produce products. 2. Propagation requires breeding to increase the amount of activity of the male and female sheep, increase metabolism, and increase the amount of nutrients needed. During pregnancy, 30% to 40% of energy and 40% to 50% of protein should be added. 3. Growth requires sheep to grow from birth to the age of 1.5 to 2.0 years before the first, is the growth and development period. Lambs grow rapidly during lactation, and generally have an average daily weight gain of 200-300 grams, requiring sufficient amounts of feed and protein and good quality. 4. Lactation requires 5 kg of breast milk per kg of lambs for 1 kg of weight gain, and 6 276–7 531 kJ of metabolizable energy per kg of breast milk produced, 55–65 g of digestible protein, 3.6 g of calcium, and 2.4 g of phosphorus. The pure protein contained in the feed must be 1.5 times higher than the pure protein contained in the milk. Other minerals and vitamins should also be supplied in appropriate amounts. 5. Fattening requires fattening to increase muscle and fat in the sheep, and improve the quality of the sheep. The increased muscle is mainly composed of proteins, and the increased fat is mainly accumulated in the subcutaneous connective tissue, abdominal cavity, and intermuscular tissue. The nutrients supplied during fattening must exceed the need for maintenance so that muscles and fats can accumulate. The fattening lamb includes two processes of growth and fattening, so when the nutrition is sufficient, the weight gain is fast and the fattening effect is good. 6. Production of wool The wool is mainly composed of protein, and it takes about 8 kilograms of vegetable protein to produce 1 kilogram of wool. After meeting maintenance needs, the rest can be used to breed and produce products. 2.
