The salt-tolerant genotype barley achieves salt-tolerance as a result of a combination of mechanisms including: (1) maintaining a higher negative potential by controlling the membrane voltage; and (2) increasing the activity of the H + pump; 3) increase the Na + capacity of the cells; (4) increase the sensitivity to Ca 2+ .
