How to extract pectin from pomelo peel

Pectin is a white, light yellow or brown powder that dissolves in water and forms a viscous liquid. It has a wide range of uses in the food industry and medicine. The white peel layer of pomelo peel contains a large amount of pectin with a content of up to 6% (wet weight). As far as the present is concerned, pomelo peel is the best raw material for the extraction of pectin, and its production techniques are as follows: 1. The acid used is dilute hydrochloric acid or dilute sulfuric acid. The pH value is 2-3, and the amount is 4 times that of the raw material. The solution is heated to 90 DEG C. The solution is kept in a slightly boiling state for 50-60 minutes. Finally, a hydrolyzed solution is obtained. 6, filtration and slag: Get a thin colloidal hydrolyzate. 7. Concentration: Vacuum decompression can be used to concentrate the production, and the double-effect evaporation tank has a vacuum of 660 mm and a temperature of 45-50°C. If the pressure is concentrated with normal pressure, the color of pectin will be deeper. The purpose is to remove part of the water. Save alcohol for the next process to reduce costs. 8. Precipitation: Precipitate the pectin with 95% alcohol and add it to the pectin solution. The alcohol content can be determined by alcohol meter from 50% to 55%. Pectin is precipitated as cotton wool from the pectin solution, which is one of the keys to determine the yield of pectin. This method is used at home and abroad to recover dilute alcohol. 9. Drying and crushing: Pellets are precipitated and thrown dry with a pressure machine or a centrifuge, and dried. The temperature is below 60°C to make the moisture content reach 3%. Then the pulverizer is used to crush and pass the 60-80. Mesh sieve after the packaging. That is the finished product.
