For crude hard silage material (cut without crushing), the moisture content can be as high as 78%. If it is a soft silage material (squash + cut), the moisture content needs to be lower, can be as low as 62%. At present, we can control the dry matter content at more than 25%. If the silage water content is too high, there will be a large amount of nutrients in the compaction process as the water loss, resulting in a lot of waste, and then the silage PH high, sour and pungent pungent. In view of this situation, a certain amount of wheat straw, corn stover, dried alfalfa, dried apple pomace, and bran can be added during the silage process to increase the dry matter content of silage materials, reduce nutrient loss, and increase silage lactic acid scent. The cut length of whole plant corn should be appropriate. When it is too long, it will not be easily compacted. Excessive air will affect the anaerobic fermentation of silage and affect the quality of silage. If it is too short, it will affect the ruminal health of dairy cows, resulting in a decline in milk fat percentage. , The incidence of true gastric metastases increases. The cutting length of whole-plant silage corn in many foreign countries is 0.9-1.4 cm. However, in China, the cutting length is uneven due to many factors such as harvesting machinery. It is recommended not to cut more than 2 cm in length.


3. Fill and compact cellar as soon as possible to shorten aerobic fermentation time

Once the corn is harvested, it can be harvested and trimmed while trimming it. The compaction can be carried out on a small scale. If it is a large silo, it can be mechanically compacted.
