According to reports, the researchers showed that induced pluripotent stem cells (iPS cells) became visual cells of the retina and transplanted into the eyes of mice blinded by advanced "retinal pigmentation", and the mice became sensitized to the eyes. This is the first time that the use of iPS cells has been shown to restore photosensitivity.

Deputy project leader Bandai Daozi explained: "I think that at this stage, I can feel a little light and the horizon is slightly widened." She plans to use human iPS cells for verification and apply for clinical research within 2 years.
