At Nike's recent exhibition of The Nature of Motion for Milan's Design Week 2016, we saw a very unusual chair. Although it is not an old spring, it claims to give athletes a unique advantage in defeating their opponents.
The chair, called the Microclimate Chair, is made by designer Greg Lynn, and the athlete sits on it to get a quick heat or cold treatment, which is much better than using a towel or hot pack.
The Microcliamate Chair is made of flexible carbon tape and carbon fabric with about 70 Peltier thermoelectric pads embedded in it, which can be heated or cooled according to the current level. A tube on the outside of the tube divides the air evenly on the surface of the body to reduce humidity. The combination of the three is considered to be a perfect way to treat muscle strain in sports.
Unfortunately, this chair is just a display, and there is no sales plan yet.
