The drug feed addition refers to a premix of veterinary drugs incorporating a carrier and a diluent for preventing or treating animal diseases. The Ministry of Agriculture specifies the permitted use of pharmaceutical feed additives in the "Specifications for the Use of Feed Additives" (hereinafter referred to as "the Code"). Drug feed additives mainly include two types:
One is a feed drug additive that has the function of preventing animal diseases and promoting animal growth, and can be used for a long time in feeds (variables are listed in Appendix 1 of the “Regulationsâ€), and its product approval number must be “drug-addedâ€. For the production of feed containing the ingredients listed in Appendix I to the Code, the name, content, scope of application, withdrawal period and precautions of the contained veterinary drug ingredients must be indicated on the product label. The other category is used to control animal diseases and provide treatment courses. Feed drug additives (including premixes or powders) that are only fed through mixed feeds are listed in appendix 2 of the "Specification" and their product approval numbers The “Veterinary Drug Words†must be used. All livestock and poultry farms and farmers must purchase and use them on the basis of a veterinary prescription. No veterinary drug ingredients listed in Appendix 2 of the “Specification†may be added to all commercial feeds.
