Recently, the Guangzhou Consumer Council conducted comparative tests on protein solid beverages, ordinary solid beverages, fruit-flavored solid beverages and oatmeal products in major supermarkets in the city.
Of the 100 batches of samples in this comparative test, 86 batches of samples that met the standard requirements for all items examined were 86.0%.
The test found that the protein content of a batch of protein solid drinks and the calcium content of a batch of protein solid drinks did not meet the requirements of the national standard. This comparative test found that there was a batch of samples that used excessive colorants (carmine). Carmine is a synthetic pigment, and its long-term consumption will have an impact on human health.
In addition, this comparative test performed microbiological testing on 75 batches of solid beverages and 25 batches of cereal products. Microbiological indicators tested include: total colonies, coliform bacteria, mold, Salmonella, Shigella, and Staphylococcus aureus. It was found that there were 2 batches of cereals and 3 batches of solid beverage mold exceeded, and the total number of 1 batch of solid beverage colonies also exceeded the standard. The total number of colonies and molds can be used to determine the degree of contamination of food by bacteria. It is one of the important microbiological indicators to measure food hygiene.
According to the results of this comparative trial, the City Consumer Council recommends that consumers should be cautious when shopping for similar products, and try to purchase high quality solid beverages.
