Gerbera Potted Management Technology

First, suitable growth environment

The cool, sunny, and air-flowing environment of gerbera is cool in summer. The optimum growth period is 20°C-25°C. The dormant temperature in winter is 12°C-15°C. If the temperature is lower than 10°C, it will stop growing. It is a kind of semi-cold flower and can tolerate low temperature of 0°C for a short time. There is no obvious response to the length of sunshine. Under strong light, flowers develop best. The gerbera is rich in loose sandy loam, avoiding sticky soil, and is suitable for slightly acidic soils. It can also grow normally on neutral and slightly alkaline soils.

Second, the breeding method

1, sowing breeding. In order to obtain well-developed seeds, artificial pollination should be performed during the flowering period. Gerbera seeds have a short life span of only a few months, so seeds should be sown immediately after they mature. Seed germination rate is low, usually only 30% -40%. When the seeds are sown when the seeds are turned downwards, the seeds germinate with light, so the seeds should be lightly covered after sowing, and germinate at about 20°C to 25°C for about 2 weeks. After the cotyledon has been fully expanded, the seedlings can be divided into two seedlings, and then two (2) true leaves are picked and then transferred into a pot, preferably 2 plants per pot to increase the number of flowers. Keep soil moist during seedlings, but avoid rain. The temperature is controlled at about 16°C to promote root development.

2 bred. After 2a (years) cultivation, the old strains decreased in flowering and the quality of flowers declined. Usually 3a bred once, usually in April - May, the old plant will be dug up and divided, each new plant with 4 - 5 leaves, the other planted, not too deep when planted, with a slightly exposed root and neck The soil surface is suitable to prevent root rot.

Third, growth management

1, suitable temperature. Plants maintain their daily growth temperature of 20°C-25°C and nighttime temperature 13°C-15°C. The nighttime temperature is more than 16°C, but the flower stems are weak and easy to fall. If the winter temperature is above 12°C-15°C, the summer season will not only exceed 26°C, but will allow the plants to enter the dormancy period and bloom year-round.

2, moisture. During the growth period, sufficient water supply should be maintained. However, the center of the watering leaf cluster during the flowering period should not be exposed to water. Otherwise, flower buds can easily be rotted.

3, light. Gerbera enjoys plenty of sunshine. In the winter, it must be fully exposed to sunlight. In summer, it can be properly shaded and the ventilation can be strengthened to lower the temperature and prevent the temperature from being too high to cause hibernation.

4, in addition to decline. The lower leaves of the basal leaves of gerbera are susceptible to yellowing and senescence. Clearance should be promptly removed to improve the ventilation and light transmission conditions, which will facilitate the germination of new flower buds, enhance plant growth, and promote continuous flowering.

5, fertilization. Gerbera is a perennial perennial flower, especially a large, high-height variety requiring more fertilizer. In the basin before the pelvic floor can be embedded in a good bean cake, mix in the pot soil grass ash, flowering plant growth according to the appropriate amount of fertilizer applied.

6, pest control. Potted gerbera often suffers from aphids, whiteflies, and spider mites, and can be regularly controlled.
