The pheasant lives in hilly areas or bushes covered with shrubbery in the mountainous area or in the hills at elevations of 300 to 3000 meters above sea level. Wings are short and cannot fly for a long time. They are good at walking, timid and aggressive, and they spend more time at the edge of the woodland during the day, feeding, and at night. The males roost on the dense branches and the females hide in the long grass. Its food habits include staple cereals, beans and plant seeds and insects. However, food changes with the season. In the winter, it is moved to the foothills and grasslands and is harmful to crops in agricultural areas. Artificial rearing can be used to formulate full-priced feed and some rough-processed agricultural and sideline products.
The breeding of pheasants has obvious seasonality. It is a normal breeding season from April to June every year. Normally it is mature from 7 to 8 months of age. The females produce about 2 nests per year. The nests are laid on the ground in the grass and shrubs. The quantity is large, 6 to 12 eggs are produced, and the average egg weight is 28.46 grams. The shape is oval and the shells are light olive, light brown and light yellow. Males often have quail eggs (not food) behavior, which has a positive effect on female eggs.
