Last year, a large number of mink skins, pelt skins and fox skins were produced in China. At present, in key breeding areas, some farmers still have a lot of hides that have not yet been sold. Now that the market has been sluggish, prices have continued to fall, and hide traders and mink manufacturers have already stopped buying. There are also a large number of furs in the hands of middlemen. In summer, the temperature is high and the humidity is high. If the fur is not properly kept and stored, it is prone to insects, moisture, and mildew and becomes deteriorative, and even worse, it loses the use value of fur. For this reason, the author will introduce the precautions for storing fur in the summer as follows.
1. Before the fur is put into storage, first dry the skin in a cool, ventilated place and dispose of the fat and residual meat on the skin so as not to melt the oil into the skin.
2. Storehouses for fur storage should be sunny, ventilated, dry and cold. If the amount of storage is small, the leather foxes or suede with a large leather surface are hooked on the tip of the nose with a rope or wire, and they are hung on the horizontal wire drawn in the air, about 1 meter from the ground; it can be stored on a wooden frame. The mink has a small leather surface and can be placed on a wooden stand, while also being placed in camphor powder or insect repellent drugs. The top of the fur is covered with a white cloth.
If the number of skins is large, it should be stored in a dedicated warehouse. The temperature is controlled at 15-25°C, preferably not more than 25°C, and the relative humidity is about 50%. The warehouse is required to use concrete floor and doors and windows are allowed to ventilate. Place a 20-cm-high wooden stand on the ground to maintain a certain distance from the wall, which is conducive to ventilation, moisture and personnel inspection. Before going into the warehouse, sprinkle some camphor powder on each peel sheet. After storage, the warehouse should be sprayed with insect repellent drugs to prevent pests from multiplying. When stored, the rough surface of the skin is opposite to the surface of the plate and placed on a wooden frame with a height of no more than 2.5 meters. A white cloth is used to cover the surface of the skin to prevent dust contamination.
3. When entering the high temperature and rainy season in midsummer, due to the hot weather and high humidity, the fur is most prone to the phenomenon of mildew and deterioration. For this reason, always check it out. When the temperature is too high, it is necessary to ventilate and exhaust the air; when the humidity of the warehouse is large, it is necessary to strengthen the air circulation, or place some moisture absorbents, such as quicklime powder, in the warehouse. If the odor of the fur is found, the skin becomes moldy and grayish green, indicating that the deposited fur has experienced problems. It should be placed in a cool, ventilated place to dry immediately and the gray-green film on the skin should be brushed off. Avoid exposure to strong sunlight.
4, in order to prevent rats from biting the skin, put the rat drug in the warehouse, but also in the corner, store the skin of the wooden frame on the column and the bottom of the sticky rat glue board. In addition, when the fur is sold, it is necessary to carry out a facelift, remove the dust, wash the skin with a sawdust, comb the plush, and restore the original shape of the skin. Finally, wrung the wet towel and brush to scrub the hair, make the coat smooth, showing the hair gloss, in order to sell a good price.
